BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large amounts of data over the Internet. BitTorrent is one of the most common protocols for transferring large files and it has been estimated that peer-to-peer networks collectively have accounted for roughly 43% to 70% of all Internet traffic (depending on geographical location) as of February 2009
μTorrent is a freeware closed source owned by Bit Torrent.Inc. It is the most widely used tool for torrent everywhere except china where Xunlei is widely used.
Vuze (previously Azureus) is a BitTorrent client used to transfer files via the BitTorrent protocol. Vuze is written in Java, and uses the Azureus Engine. Both these softwares are used for torrent downloads. These two softwares are very much different from each others.
The question is better what Vuze Or μTorrent ? I personally use vuze and i found it nice and easy, also fast. we have got many options and plug ins in vuze. Vuze has more gadgets and info displays and also has the Vuze downloads which download at max speed and where I get many downloads. However, it uses more RAM than μTorrent. μTorrent on the other hand is small and easy on system resources and has all the good basics of bittorrent.
Azureus also offers a range of plugins including (but not limited to):
- Auto Speed
- Advanced Statistics
- Mainline DHT
- 3D View
- SMS Notifications
- Country Locator
- FireFrog
- HTML Web UI
- Jython
- Ono
- ProgressBar
- RSS Downloader
- Speed Scheduler
- Status Mailer
